All about who you are – GBS holiday programme

Hello

So sorry in advance for posting this really late, was really busy today so I wasn’t able to finish during day time. I managed to get my audio presentation for golden points I just really hope it’s worthy. Take a listen to who I am – Lesley

Art – GBS holiday learning Programme

Today’s task involved us making a paper flower. Mrs Tofa also included some golden points if we make something else, my brain got me thinking “What should I do for golden points?”. I made a butterfly to go with the flower. I hope this is worthy of golden points.

Math activity – Glenbrae holiday programme

Maths learning

Hard (Room 7&8)
If Mrs Tofa halved the recipe, what would the new measurements be?
What would the recipe be if Mrs Tofa wanted to make 70 pagipopo?

If Mrs Tofa halved the recipe, what would the new measurements be?
The new measurements would be
½ a cup of flour
1 cup of water
¼ teaspoons of yeast because ¼ +¼ = 2/4 which is equivalent to ½ and ½ of ½ = ¼
¼ of water
1 ½ teaspoon of oil
¼ of sugar
That should make 7 to 8 buns if I’m correct

What would the recipe be if Mrs Tofa wanted to make 70 pagipopo?
So Mrs. Tofa made 14 buns with the measurements she had and 14 x 5 is 70 so all
we do is times the measurements by 5
15 cups of flour
10 cups of water
11.25 teaspoons of yeast
2.5 cups of water
5 tablespoons of oil
2.5 cups of sugar

Hospital sickness – Glenbrae holiday programme activity

June had been the most hectic month this year. Guilt rushed over me due to the fact my grandpa had been in danger and I was too much worrying over myself instead of seeing the bigger problems.

It was a normal day at school, nothing out of the ordinary. As I was walking home, I noticed some of the cars at home missing but I just assumed they were gone up the road. I got inside and went to go say hi until my sister told me that my grandpa was in the hospital. I was shocked but I shrugged it off thinking he was going to be fine. Visiting my grandpa was alright but I worried a little bit seeing all the wires connected to him. Praying that he was okay and god had answered my prayer. He was released within a few days later, hooray or that’s what I thought.

To be exact 4 days after he got released he went back to the hospital because he was still experiencing pain, we were told he had a fluid infection and had to get it removed urgently but it would take a couple of days to remove the fluid from his body. Days went by then weeks and we were not seeing progress at all. I had skipped school and I kind of regretted it not knowing what was going to happen. My sister, mum, and I went to see my grandpa at the hospital but something was off. He was not speaking at all and they suspected a stroke happening

Mum told us not to worry and to go get food so the nurses would have space in the room. Took us a good 30 minutes to get the food and we were back in my grandpa’s room. At least 7 nurses and a few doctors were in the room but my mum did not look too good. My sister and I both went to the family room to just give them space and that was when my mum burst the doors open bawling her eyes out, my grandpa was on the verge of giving up and I felt like my whole world came crashing down. Before I knew it my whole family came crowding in. He was taken to the ICU later that day, days passed and he was getting better.

It felt so good to know that my grandpa was getting better and that he was fighting like the fighter he was. He was able to come home the day before my birthday. Celebrating my birthday with him was a sigh of relief. It is now September and he is still the best grandpa I know. I wish him the best.
